Episode 92 – The Village

For many, this was the beginning of the end for Shyamalan as a director to be reckoned with. The diminishing returns of his moody atmospheres and gotcha endings seemed to have finally worn out the patience of audiences.  I haven’t seen The Villiage since its release 13 years ago, and Collin loves nothing more than a good gotcha ending.  With that in mind (and also since it’s on Netflix, and it’s about as close as I’m willing to get to a scary Halloween movie) we watched this tale of monsters and an isolated hamlet, Collin with fresh eyes and me trying to pry a little more meaning from the story.
